PANews reported on June 5th that Dan Robinson, General Partner and Research Director at Paradigm, and Dave White, Research Partner, introduced MEV tax, which will allow any application to capture its MEV and preserve composability. This mechanism can now be used on OP Mainnet, Base, Blast, and other OP Stack L2s because the block proposers on these chains follow the rule of 'competitive priority sorting'.

The article states that MEV tax is a simple technology that can be seen as allowing any on-chain application to run its own custom MEV auction without needing any of its own off-chain infrastructure, just by connecting to a single shared auction run by block proposers; Encourage L2 to consider using priority sorting (OP Stack default support), and encourage applications to try MEV taxes where supported.
