Rupiah Strengthens, Antam Gold Drops to Rp1.8 Million Today
The rupiah strengthened to Rp16,194 per US dollar today, Saturday (28/06) despite previously falling to Rp16,400 after the United States attacked Iran last week. In fact, the domestic currency even briefly breached Rp17,134 when the US President announced tariffs last April.
On the other hand, Antam gold dropped by Rp23,000, bringing its price to Rp1,884,000. This means that the precious metal has decreased by 7.6% from its peak of Rp2,039,000 reached on April 22.
Good news also comes from the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) which closed at a price of Rp6,897, up 0.96% since this morning's opening.
According to Maybank analyst Myrdal Gunarto, the Asian market rose due to hopes that US interest rates will decrease and due to uncertainty about US trade policy. Both of these factors significantly influence global investment flows, citing Bloomberg.
